Takeaways
Takeaways
I learned to prioritize effectively when balancing business goals with usability under tight deadlines. By following the design patterns and visual direction set by the senior designer, I maintained consistency while delivering impactful improvements. Working within these constraints pushed me to adapt quickly, ask the right questions, and stay curious about the reasoning behind design choices. This strengthened both my design thinking and ability to contribute meaningfully as part of a team.
Redesigning the website for Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary taught me how to balance emotional storytelling with functional clarity. While the sanctuary’s brand is built on memorable wildlife experiences, users primarily visit the site for practical information like tickets, timings, and directions. This project reinforced the importance of prioritizing user goals over visual experimentation and simplifying information architecture to reduce cognitive load. I also learned to design with real-world context in mind, especially mobile users and same-day planners. Overall, it strengthened my ability to make strategic, user-centered decisions that align both experience and business objectives.
